When should I take my dog to your clinic for a progesterone test?

A

You should start progesterone testing on day 5 of the dog’s heat cycle.

When and how is pregnancy confirmed after breeding?

A

At 28–30 days from first breeding, an ultrasound is performed to confirm pregnancy.

When should your dog have a fetal count X-ray?

A

Imaging should be done 58–60 days after first breeding.

At what age are tails docked and dew claws removed?

A

Tails and dew claws must be done within the first 5 days of life. Days 3–5 are ideal.

When should the first litter exam be performed, and when should I schedule it?

A

Litter exams are done at 8 weeks and should be booked once the puppies are born.

At what level of maturity do dogs become suitable for breeding?

A

Typically, 2 years of age is appropriate for breeding females as well as for the viability of males for stud service.

What testing do you perform for Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA)-compliant health assessments?

A

Our comprehensive health clearances encompass examinations for basic cardiac, patellar, and dental health, and imaging for hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as spine and shoulder clearances. We also send out testing for thyroid function and blood assays for genetic conditions.
